Things You Shouldn’t Say to a Child With Handwriting Challenges
Words matter. Many students come to Junior Mind Box Singapore with a bruised self-esteem, not because of their writing but because of the way it was talked about at home or school.
Avoid saying
• “Why is your writing so ugly?”
• “You’re just lazy.”
• “Even your little sister writes better.”
Say instead
• “Let’s work together on this.”
• “I see you’re trying really hard.”
• “What letter is hardest for you? Let’s fix it.”
In our handwriting programs, we focus on building both skills and positive self-talk because every child deserves to feel proud of their progress.
